Design Philosophy and Inspiration

My appreciation for the transformative power of design began as a teenager after reading Walter Isaacson's biography of Steve Jobs. The legendary collaboration between Jobs and Jony Ive, that led to the creation of products like the iMac, iPod, and iPhone, provided incredible inspiration in the realm of exceptional product design. These products are excellent examples of how technology can revolutionize the way we interact with the world around us. I admire innovators like Kevin Gibbs, who created Google's Autocomplete; it’s a fun thought experiment to consider the countless hours saved by such a simple yet genius user interface feature. Brilliant design has the power to evoke a sense of wonder while remaining naturally intuitive. This philosophy motivates me to design experiences that meet and exceed user needs, ensuring that technology integrates smoothly and positively into our lives.

Elevation Through Exploration

To achieve success in the digital realm, I believe it’s essential to stay connected to the natural world. For me, one way that I find that connection is through mountaineering. I’ve summited some of the most iconic peaks across the western United States—including Mt. Shasta, Mt. Hood, Mt. Baker, Mt. St. Helens, South Sister, and Guadalupe Peak, just to name a few.  Each climb has deepened my appreciation for exploration, perseverance, and the sweet reward of earning that view from the summit, qualities I strive to bring into my work as a designer on a daily basis.
